Dominic Na

Dominic K. Na is an internationally acclaimed cellist, chamber musician, recording artist, and distinguished educator. He currently teaches and performs at ParkNa Studio for Violin, Viola, Cello in Texas and serves as a co-founder and board member of the Texas Virtuosi Music Foundation.

Dr. Na made his solo debut at the age of thirteen, performing the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor with the St. Petersburg Radio Symphony in 1998. He has since appeared in recitals, festivals, and major halls across the United States, Germany, Austria, Russia, and Korea. His notable performances include appearances at the Hermitage Museum, Philharmonia Concert Halls, Wiener Konzerthaus, Smetana Concert Hall, Beethoven House in Bonn, Incheon Culture and Arts Centre, and Meyerson Symphony Hall.

His distinct artistic and pedagogical approach is shaped by global training. Dr. Na studied at the Central Music School under the St. Petersburg State Conservatory, the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK), Musikhochschule Lübeck, Southern Methodist University, and earned his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree from the University of North Texas.

From 2016 to 2022, Dr. Na was based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he served on the Cello Faculty at the University of Arkansas, played as Principal Cellist of the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra, and founded the university cello ensemble Dolcelli. During his tenure in Arkansas, he directed the university’s Young Artists String Camp and served as the founding Artistic Director of the Park Na Conservatory, a K–12 preparatory program dedicated to cultivating young talent.

Today, Dr. Na guides emerging string students at ParkNa Studio, where he also produces and performs in the studio’s performance series. Recently, he premiered the Duo-Sonata for Violin and Cello "About Us" by Allen Cohen—a piece written for and dedicated to Dr. Na and his wife, violinist Eun Seo Park, celebrating their story and shared journey.

Driven by the belief that music connects all people, Dr. Na is a passionate advocate for expanding the reach of string literature for violin, viola, and cello. His doctoral dissertation, "A Pragmatic Application of Left Hand Framing," directly informs his teaching, providing students with proven techniques for left-hand stabilization and enhanced technical freedom.

While Dr. Na works with advanced performance and professional standards, his overarching vision is to bring classical music—and the cello in particular—into everyday life. Grounded in the conviction that music enriches the human experience, he advocates for early childhood music education to foster cognitive development, while offering busy adults a meaningful path toward emotional expression and self-discovery. His personal dream is simple yet profound: to see a cello in every household, enriching lives across generations.

Outside the concert hall, Dominic cherishes time with his wife, Eun Seo, and their daughter, Lia. He performs on a fine antique Italian cello crafted by master luthier Giuseppe Ornati.
